Over the years I have
had misfortunes just like everyone else. I have saved these images
in order to share with others that may be interested in the fetal
development of foals.
Beige, yellow, or brown bodies
are sometimes found in the allantoic cavity (referred to as "Hippomanes")
They have a putty-like consistency (like liver) and are believed
to originate from minerals and proteins that are deposited in
the allantoic cavity during gestation. They have no known purpose.
These so-called "Golden
Slippers" cover the fetal hooves and protect the mare's reproductive
tract during late gestation.
