This
page is for informative purposes only. This is not to describe
what will happen to YOUR horse, only what has transpired with
mine.

I left this
injury untreated with the exception of a tetanus shot and a spray
of Granulex.

This
pictorial (following) is not yet complete, and most likely won't
be until Spring of 2004. This is "Titan". He got into
a dozepile which contained old fencing. The Vet has high hopes
while I am skeptical :). He tore appx. 6" of his Extensor
tendon away, yes it is GONE (this is the tendon that runs down
the front of the leg and holds up the toe) You can see(in the
first pictures) he has no control over his toe.

Today Lisa left the
cast off, cut out all the proud flesh (after this photo was taken)
heavily bandaged the leg. Titan is putting pressure on his foot,
in the right direction (flat). She has drilled a hole in his hoof
in case we need to tie it up to his neck, keeping the hoof in
the proper position. The injury has filled in and looks GREAT.
Looking great! He
still won't put his foot down flat... we will give him one more
week before using the bungie cord idea.
NOW this colt has
stringhalt. Things are not looking good.
2/21 A flicker of
hope. He is just beginning to SLIGHTLY use the foot, gingerly
putting it down. :)
Goodbye Titan. We
gave it our best shot 3/09/04
