The following vision statement is intended to provide the standards
that Putnam County High School
should strive to achieve and maintain to become an exemplary school.
These standards should serve
as both the blueprint for our improvement efforts and the benchmarks
by which we will evaluate our
progress.
I. Curriculum and Instruction
An exemplary school provides a diverse and balanced curriculum.
This curriculum includes a core
that specifies the knowledge and skills all students are to attain.
The school designs its curriculum
and instruction to enable all students to acquire these outcomes through
their student educational
plans. In such a school:
A. Academics are recognized as a priority.
B. Students utilize knowledge in a variety of applications.
C. The curriculum and courses are updated to include a range of courses
for all levels and areas of
academic and vocational interests.
D. A variety of programs is provided to encourage high student performance.
E. A variety of instructional techniques is incorporated.
F. Up-to-date technology is utilized as a learning tool.
II. Students
The effectiveness of a school is determined on the basis of the conduct,
character, and achievement
of its students. In an exemplary school, students:

B. Have low failure, dropout, and absenteeism rates.

D. Recognize that extra-curricular activities are important.
III. Personnel
An exemplary school operates on the premise that a school can only

C. A clear, concise discipline plan is utilized and applied consistently.

and celebrated regularly.

F. Facilities to support curriculum, instruction, and technology are
maintained and upgraded.
G. Facilities are maintained and upgraded to ensure a safe physical
environment.
V. Community Support
An exemplary school has created an effective partnership with its community.
The school is

communication to keep patrons informed of district policies and initiatives.
