| Education is a strong value to the people of Putnam County.
They support a county-wide K-12 school system, headquartered in Unionville. Many
graduates from that institution further their education at local vocational schools,
community colleges, and state colleges and universities. Putnam County R-1 Schools - "Creating Opportunity through Quality Education" The Putnam County campus includes three buildings: Elementary (pre-K through 5), Middle School (6-8) and High School (9-12). The modern facilities, ranging in age from two to twenty-five years, include a 300 seat auditorium, Industrial Technology Lab, 21st Century Business Classroom, Education Plus Network (Interactive Learning), and career, writing and video production labs. As a center for the community, Putnam County Schools is a place where lifelong learners are encouraged to utilize the facilities, professional staff, and progressive technology. Putnam County University Outreach and Extension, located in the Putnam County Courthouse, offers varied educational workshops, guidesheets, and other programs as an outreach from the University of Missouri.
