After listening to literally thousands of songs, The Rage and I, along with Dylan Seals and Bil VornDick met at Adventure Studios in Nashville, TN to begin the creation process of the next recording project. I love finding new songs, and especially new writers. This time I've met 2 new incredible writers, so far. Recorded their songs first. The first song we cut was from a young lady from Florida. Her song is in the vein of Bill Monroe. In fact, before they hit RECORD, I told everyone to channel the memory of Bill, as we recorded. I could feel his presence, as the music started to play; and hope we have created the essence of his music with this song. The next 2 new songs are from a lady in Alabama. Her situation was a first for me; and as I told other Nashville writers about her demo she sent; they shook their heads, and said no one else would have ever listened to the demo. The reason being; she sent her demo of songs, with just her voice. No music at all. But what a voice she has. The CD has more than 10 songs on it. All accapella, but beautifully sang by this young woman. I cannot wait to meet her; and hope to sing with her sometime. When I called to ask if we could record her songs; she told me how she had pursued a music career at one time; but instead decided to focus on her song writing. I think she's great at both writing and singing. You can be the judge when you hear her songs. It was exciting to get the new project started. After our first session; I spent a day in the conference room at BMI, listening to new songs from many of the Nashville publishers. This is always a fun day; listening to songs from some of the best writers in Nashville. We struck gold and found an incredible new song, in the same vein as "You Can't Take It With You". That song was a #4 video on CMT, and one of my favorites. I predict this beautiful ballad is every bit as beautiful. We will be back in the studio before our bluegrass cruise to record the song; then shooting a video for the song during our cruise; and in the days following our cruise. With all the wonderful ports of call; it should make for a very scenic video. Watch for it online and throughout the various video outlets. We'll be SURE to let you know when it's ready, and when we have a release date for the project! | ||
